Common Questions

Is Póg Apparel an Irish company?

No. Póg Apparel LLC, is based in New Hampshire. However, we work with about 15 companies and producers of fine apparel and gifts across Ireland and the UK.

How do you pronounce “Póg”, and what does it mean.

Póg means “kiss” in Irish, sometimes referred to as Gaelic. It is pronouced, “pogue”.

Do you have any physical stores:

No. We offer our products online only. We do hope to have a mail order catalog soon.

Why does your return policy require such a quick return of products?

Despite our growth, we are still a small, family owned and operated business. We simply don’t have the operating budget to offer extended “satisfaction guarantees”. While we are certain that you will not find better made apparel, accessories and gifts ANYWHERE, we are unable to hold enough reserve funds to offer such a benefit.

Can you tell me more about who made the products?

Yes. Sign up for our newsletter and check our blog. We are building a library of information for customers, so stay tuned.

How do clothing sizes in Europe compare with the US?

There are actually several different clothes size standards in Europe. Our size charts should give you enough information to determine the size you need.

I want to send a gift to someone other than the person who makes a purchase? I want to send a gift from your product line to someone.

Yes, we often do. Just provide us with the recipient’s name and all his/her contact information, including  telephone number.

I like your children’s sweaters. Do you know if they are “itchy”?

All wooll can be irritating to many small children. However, the wool and weave of our children’s sweaters are of a superior quality than you are likely to find elsewhere. As a result, they are not as “itchy” to children. And remember, by putting a layer of clothing between the child’s skin and the wool, much if not all of the problem “goes away”.

I love your flannel pajamas. Will they shrink?

As the writer of these answers, I can tell you first hand that I have had a pair for more than a year and have not noticed any shrinkage despite having washed them with warm water and dried them in a dryer.  That said, we cannot guarantee there will be no shrinkage at all, but can guarantee that if shrinkage does occur, it will be very minimal. They are also yarn-died with colorfast dye.

I’d like to make a purchase as a Christmas present, but I’m afraid my order won’t arrive in time.

The Irish culture is in fact different from ours, here in the US. I would like to say that they are in less a hurry than we are. And I mean that as a compliment. During the Holiday season, we do sometimes experience delays. We have had orders not arrive in time for Christmas. However, the overwhelming majority of those who received their package late, have told us that the quality of the products they received was well worth the wait.  If you place an order by mid-December, we will likely be able to fulfill it before Christmas. With that said, we cannot always guarantee it, and will let you know if it looks like there will be a delay.
